Prince William and longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton are engaged and will marry next spring or summer in London — a royal wedding that Britons have been eagerly awaiting for years. Prince Charles's Clarence House office said the second in line to the throne is "delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton."
The couple met more than eight years ago as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and have had an on-again, off-again romance. They got engaged last month during a vacation in Kenya. The couple showed off the engagement ring that belonged to William's mother — Diana, the late Princess of Wales — amid the bright flash from cameras during a crowded news conference on Tuesday. The ring is an oval sapphire surrounded by diamonds. - CBC News
When George Harrison met Pattie Boyd on the set of 'A Hard Day's Night' one of the first things he asked her was "Will you marry me?" Boyd laughed, so Harrison said, "Well, if you won't marry me, will you have dinner with me tonight?" - ABC News

Harry Burns: I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

Hands locked, they descended upon Barney's Beanery, a frequent haunt, for caffeine, which they now took in desperate helpings. She wore a Tom Waits T-shirt and Depp's engagement ring. She was saying, `I'd never seen anyone get a tattoo before, so I was pretty squeamish I guess.' Depp chuckled and said, `She kept taking the bandage off and staring at it afterwards.' They were speaking of WINONA FOREVER, the third and final (for now) Depp tattoo, eternally etched onto his epidermis: locus, right shoulder. (Depp told me he plans to have his tattoos pickled after his death as keepsakes for his children, should there be any). This one was carved on at a nearby tattoo parlor as Winona watched with awe. `I sort of was in shock,' she said. `I kept thinking it was going to wash off or something. I couldn't believe it was real.' Her eyes widened. `I mean, it's such a big thing, because it's so permanent.'

"He wrote to me almost every day, letters that were ten pages long, covered with kisses, cartoons and declarations of love. Even the envelopes bore poems, kisses and messages like "Postman, Postman, don't be slow, I'm in love with Cyn so go, man, go." His letters could be as lewd as they were passionate: he made me blush with references to the "massive throbber" he had when he thought of me. I had to find a good hiding place for them - my mother would have been scandalized if she'd read them."

Katie: I don't have the right style for you do I?
Hubbell: No you don't have the right style.
Katie: I'll change.
Hubbell: No, don't change. You're your own girl, you have your own style.
Katie: But then I won't have you. Why can't I have you?
Hubbell: Because you push too hard, every damn minute. There's no time to ever relax and enjoy living. Every things too serious to be so serious.
Katie: If I push too hard it's because I want things to be better, I want us to be better, I want you to be better. Sure I make waves you have I mean you have to. And I'll keep making them till your everything you should be and will be. You'll never find anyone as good for you as I am, to believe in you as much as I do or to love you as much.
Hubbell: I know that.
Katie: Well then why?
Hubbell: Do you think if I come back its going to be okay by magic? What's going to change? What's going to be different? We'll both be wrong, we'll both lose.
Katie: Couldn't we both win?

"No paparazzi, no gate-crashers, no hoopla — the marriage of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Hole singer-guitarist Courtney Love was the antithesis of the glitzy celebrity wedding. The ceremony was performed by a nondenominational female minister on a cliff overlooking a beach in Waikiki, Feb. 24, 1992. A handful of friends and roadies attended. The groom dressed in green flannel pajamas, while the bride wore a dress that had belonged to Frances Farmer, the tragic Hollywood actress. Cobain is said to have cried; Love, it is said, did not." -Entertainment Weekly

"...when I was young, there was this section in the Reader's Digest. It was called "The Most Unforgettable Character I've Ever Met." And for me that person is Sonny Bono. And no matter how long I live or who I meet in my life, that person will always be Sonny for me." - Cher, excerpt from her eulogy at Sonny's 1998 funeral.
